Medicine and wellness
Seeing a doctor in another country often starts with the language barrier and ends with mistrust: who is this doctor, what are they saying, and why does it cost so much. On this page we explain how we help foreigners in Georgia find a trustworthy clinic and doctor, plan treatment, and enjoy the wellness many people come here for.

Who this section is for
For tourists who need a doctor while travelling, and for those who come to Georgia specifically for treatment or rest.
And for foreigners living here who need their own doctor, dentist or psychologist.
Our role
We are not a clinic and we do not give medical advice. Diagnosis and treatment are decided by licensed doctors.
We help you choose a clinic and a doctor, arrange visits, interpreters, transfers and accommodation, and we take no commission from clinics.
Emergencies
In a life-threatening situation, call 112 first, and only then us.
112 operators often speak English as well, and they send an ambulance.
Once you are in hospital, we help with an interpreter, contact with your insurance company and keeping your family informed.
Medical tourism
Many foreigners come to Georgia for dentistry, aesthetic procedures or a check-up.
The reasons are often quality, quick appointments and combining treatment with a holiday.
We always start treatment with a realistic plan: how many visits, how many days and what happens if there are complications.
Choosing a clinic
We check the clinic's licence, the doctor's qualifications and their experience in the specific procedure.
We take real patient feedback into account, not just advertising.
We always offer several options, and you make the choice.
Public and private clinics
In Georgia a large share of medical care takes place in private clinics and hospitals.
State programmes are mainly designed for citizens, and a foreigner often pays in full or through insurance.
So we clarify price and insurance before the visit, not at reception.
Online consultation before arrival
Many doctors agree to an online consultation before you arrive, based on scans and test results.
This helps you find out in advance whether treatment is needed and how long you will need to stay.
After an online consultation, the final plan is always confirmed by an in-person examination.
Choosing a doctor
Within the same clinic doctors have different experience, and choosing the doctor often matters more than choosing the clinic.
At the first consultation it is worth asking: how many times have they done this procedure, what are the alternatives and what are the risks.
We draw up the list of questions together in advance.
Language and interpreters
Many doctors speak English or Russian, but not all.
A medical interpreter translates terms correctly, and this is a safety matter.
We arrange an interpreter for the visit and, where needed, translate documents too.
Medical records
Previous test results, scans and doctors' reports save a new doctor time and repeat tests.
Send them to us digitally before you arrive, and we will translate them if needed.
After treatment we ask for the report and records in your language or in English, for your own doctor.
A second opinion
For complex or expensive treatment, a second doctor's opinion is normal practice.
We arrange a second consultation, in person or online, based on scans and tests.
This often either confirms the plan or shows a less invasive route.
The treatment plan
Before any major treatment we ask for a written plan: stages, number of visits, timing and price.
This protects against unexpected costs and helps with planning travel.
We read the plan together and put questions to the clinic before you start.
Insurance
Travel insurance often covers sudden illness, but not planned treatment.
Before treatment we ask the insurance company what it covers and what documents it needs.
We cover health insurance for long-term living in the insurance section.
Dentistry
Dentistry is one of the most popular areas of medical tourism.
Implants and crowns often need several visits with a gap between them.
We align the plan with your travel dates, and explain the details on the dentistry page.
Aesthetics
Aesthetic procedures fall into two parts: cosmetology and surgery.
After surgery recovery takes time, and flying happens only with the doctor's approval.
We explain realistic expectations and risks on the aesthetics page.
Check-ups
A check-up is a full examination: tests, scans and doctors' consultations, often in a single day.
Many people combine it with a trip, once a year.
We translate the results into your language, so you can show them to your own doctor.
Ophthalmology
Eye examinations, glasses and lenses, and some eye operations are another area of medical tourism.
A detailed examination before surgery is compulsory, and it often takes a separate visit.
We write follow-up visits after surgery into the travel plan in advance.
Rehabilitation
After an injury or operation, physiotherapy and rehabilitation often last weeks.
Some rehabilitation centres are at resorts, and mineral water is part of the programme.
We draw up the rehabilitation plan with the doctor and choose accommodation close by.
Doctor visits
With a mild illness, a doctor can come to your hotel or home.
This is especially convenient with children or when getting around is difficult.
In an emergency, however, call 112 first.
Reproductive medicine
Several clinics in Georgia serve foreign patients in reproductive medicine.
This is a delicate field with special legal regulation, which changes from time to time.
We help organise consultations and visits, but we do not arrange surrogacy programmes.
Psychologists
Moving, loneliness and a new language often affect mental health.
We look for a psychologist or psychotherapist in your language, in person or online.
This matter is confidential, and we arrange it only with you.
Spa resorts
Georgia is known for its mineral waters and resorts such as Borjomi, Tskaltubo, Sairme and Abastumani.
Treatment at a resort often needs a doctor's consultation, because in some conditions it is contraindicated.
We cover resorts, programmes and seasons on the resorts page.
Spa
Spa includes hotel spa centres, the sulphur baths of Tbilisi and massage.
Some travellers combine a spa with a tour or a working week.
We cover the options on the spa page.
Yoga and wellness
We arrange yoga, meditation and wellness retreats in the city and in nature.
Retreats are often in the mountains or wine country, with healthy food.
We cover the details on the yoga page.
Vets
When travelling or living with a pet, a vet matters as much as a doctor.
We help find a clinic, vaccinations and the pet's travel documents.
We cover the details on the vet page.
Pharmacies
Cities have many pharmacies, some open at night.
Some medicines are only dispensed on prescription, and the name may differ from your country.
We find the equivalent medicine with a pharmacist or doctor, by its active ingredient.
Bringing medicines
If you take a medicine regularly, bring it in your hand luggage, in its original packaging and with a prescription.
Special rules apply to some medicines, and we check this before you arrive.
If your supply runs low, we arrange a doctor's visit and a prescription here.
Laboratories
Tests are often done at independent laboratories, even without a doctor's referral.
Results often come quickly, electronically.
Interpreting results is a doctor's job, and we arrange a consultation for that.
Paediatricians
When travelling or living with children, a paediatrician is the doctor you need most often.
We choose a paediatrician who speaks your language and can be reached by phone.
We arrange the vaccination plan and school medical forms with them.
Seniors
An older traveller often needs regular medication, quick contact with a doctor and a calm pace.
We plan tours and accommodation so that a clinic and a pharmacy are close by.
We cover travel for seniors in detail in the family section.
Altitude in the mountains
Kazbegi, Gudauri and some places in Svaneti are high up, and some people feel the altitude in the first days.
With a heart or breathing condition, we recommend seeing a doctor before going to the mountains.
We plan the route so that you gain altitude gradually.
Heat and sun
In summer the heat is strong in Tbilisi and the lowland regions.
Water, a hat and a midday break are often the simplest prevention.
With children and older people we plan tours for the morning and evening.
Animal bites
Stray dogs and cats are common in cities and villages.
After an animal bite or scratch you should see a doctor urgently, because preventive vaccination is sometimes needed.
In that case we help you find a clinic and with translation straight away.
Chronic conditions
With a chronic condition, it is better to find a doctor here as soon as you arrive, not on the day of a complication.
We translate your previous doctor's report and your medication list in advance.
We put regular tests and visits into a calendar.
Pregnancy
Many clinics here offer pregnancy care, with experience of foreign patients.
When planning a birth, we choose the clinic and documents in advance.
We cover registering a child in the immigration section.
Travelling after a procedure
After some procedures, time must pass before flying or a long journey.
We always plan the departure date on the doctor's recommendation, not on the ticket price.
That is why we often recommend a ticket with a flexible date.
Accommodation during treatment
During treatment or recovery, quiet accommodation close to the clinic is better.
Sometimes an apartment with a kitchen is more convenient than a hotel.
We cover accommodation options in the accommodation section.
Transfers
On the day of a procedure, public transport or an unknown taxi is often not the best choice.
We arrange transfers to the clinic and back and, where needed, straight from the airport.
We cover transport in detail in the transport section.
A companion
After some procedures it is better not to be alone, and a companion is needed.
If you are travelling alone, we take this into account in advance and help.
One of our staff or partners can be with you on the day of the procedure.
Guarantees
Some clinics give their own guarantee on some treatments, on their own terms.
We ask for the guarantee terms in writing, before treatment begins.
We check what happens if a problem arises after you return to your country.
Complications
Every medical procedure carries risk, and we say so honestly.
With a complication we contact the clinic and doctor first and arrange an urgent visit.
If you are already home, we keep in touch with the clinic and pass the documents to your doctor.
Patients' rights
A patient has the right to information about treatment and risks, and to make an informed choice.
We translate the consent form before you sign it, so that you understand every clause.
You receive a copy of your medical records on request.
Confidentiality
Health information is the most personal of all, and we share it only with the doctor or clinic that needs it.
We tell your family or employer nothing without your consent.
We never name clients, not even in examples.
Seasons
Medical visits are possible all year round, but clinics are sometimes closed on public holidays.
Resorts and retreats have their own seasons.
We align the dates with the clinic's and the resort's schedules.
Accessibility
With limited mobility, we check the clinic's entrance, lift and transfer in advance.
Some older buildings are difficult for a wheelchair.
We cover travel with special needs in the family section.
Common mistakes
Starting treatment without a written plan and price.
A return ticket for the day after the procedure.
Previous medical records left at home.
What we need from you
What you need and when, and whether you have previous tests or scans.
Which language you want to speak with the doctor in, and whether you have insurance.
Your travel dates, accommodation and who is coming with you.
Cost
The clinic sets the price of treatment and procedures, and you pay it directly.
The interpreter, transfer and accommodation are separate lines.
Our coordination is agreed in advance, and we take no commission from clinics.
Frequently asked questions about medicine and wellness
Not finding your answer? Message us on WhatsApp - we will reply personally.
What should I do in an emergency?
Call 112 first. Then contact us - we will help with an interpreter, contact with the insurance company and keeping your family informed.
Do you give medical advice?
No. Diagnosis and treatment are decided by licensed doctors. We help with choosing a doctor, organisation and translation. Our role is to get you to the right doctor at the right time and make sure you understand everything.
How do you choose a clinic?
We check the licence, the doctor's experience in the specific procedure and patient feedback. We offer several options, and you make the choice.
Does the doctor speak my language?
Many doctors speak English or Russian, but not all. We arrange a medical interpreter where needed.
Can I know the price of treatment in advance?
Before major treatment we ask for a written plan with stages, timing and price. Sometimes the plan is confirmed after a consultation or scan.
Will my insurance cover it?
Travel insurance often covers sudden illness, but not planned treatment. We ask the insurance company before treatment.
How many visits does dental treatment take?
That depends on the treatment. An implant often needs two stages with a gap between them, and we align the plan with your travel dates.
When can I fly after an aesthetic procedure?
That depends on the procedure, and the doctor decides. That is why we recommend a ticket with a flexible date.
Will a doctor come to my hotel?
With a mild illness, often yes. This is especially convenient with children or when getting around is difficult. In an emergency, however, call 112 first.
Do you help with surrogacy?
No. We help with reproductive medicine consultations and organising visits, but we do not arrange surrogacy programmes.
Is resort treatment suitable for everyone?
Not always. Mineral waters are contraindicated in some conditions, so we recommend seeing a doctor. We choose the resort and programme on the doctor's recommendation.
Can I see a psychologist online?
Yes, often. We look for a psychologist in your language, in person or online, and handle this confidentially.
My pet needs a vet - can you help?
Yes: a clinic, vaccinations and travel documents. We cover the details on the vet page. Before you arrive we also send you the list of the pet's documents.
How much does it cost?
The clinic sets the price of treatment. The interpreter, transfer and accommodation are separate, and our coordination is agreed in advance. We set out every cost in advance, and we take no commission from clinics.
